The history of Lisbon in video mapping
Lisbon under the stars, in its original version, invites us to relive the eventful history of the Carmelite convent (Covento do Carmo/Chiado) in Lisbon.
Superb ruins, preserved as they are, which house the archaeology museum.
Created in 2018 to celebrate the European Year of Heritage, the Lisbon Under Stars Videomapping show is once again on show in the ruins of the starry-vaulted convent.
The idea is to immerse the viewer in the images and sound. The special effects give the impression that the walls of the nave of the convent church have a life of their own.
Besides, the convent is a character, a young woman who tells the story of the building’s adventures over the centuries: from its construction, to its destruction during the terrible earthquake of 1755, to the attempts to rebuild and rehabilitate it. And even street art, contemporary urban art.
The departure of the caravels, the earthquake of course, but also the carnation revolution were particularly successful moments: the colonial wars were not forgotten, and it was a remarkable audacity.
The show is 45 minutes long, and spectators can walk around the nave.

They can thus let themselves be carried away by the different scenes, led by the characters, themselves guided by the character who represents the former convent.
The music is well present, with the participation of musicians and singers Rão Kyao, Teresa Salgueiro, Salvador Sobral and Mariza.
The sound and light show Lisbon Under Stars, Lisbon Under Stars, is designed by OCUBO, a video mapping specialist, to whom we owe, among other things, the projection shows on Terreiro do Paço or Lumina in Cascais.
Lisbon under the stars do not forget foreigners, the narration is also in English.
Screenings take place from Monday to Saturday, at 9:30 pm and 10:45 pm.

The ticket costs 15 €, but there are many discounts: students, seniors, family, and even for residents of the greater Lisbon area: 12 €. Do not forget the supporting document to be presented at the ticket office.
